Courtney was born and raised in Florida. She recieved a BFA in Theatrical Design from the University of Florida before moving to New York City to pursue a career in theater arts. After a period of time working odd jobs including making hats for the Rockettes, painting costumes for The Juilliard School and working wardrobe on Broadway she returned to school to obtain an MFA in costume design from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. For the last 10 years she has had the honour to work with and study under such estimeed costume designers as Tony award winners Martin Pakledinaz, and Susan Hilferty, Oscar award winner Sandy Powell and Emmy award winners, Annie Symons and John Dunn. Her projects have ranged from HBO's 1920's based Boardwalk Empire, the sci-fi fantasy world of Jupiter Ascending, 1980's drug fueled Wolf of Wall Street, Guy Ritchie's edgy version of King Arthur, Knights of The Round Table and the colourful, soon to be released sequel to Disney's original Mary Poppins.
She has now set her sights toward illustration, finding that a career spent interpreting text to reality has served to benefit and inform her artwork. She currently lives, works and draws in London and Berlin (and many places in between) with her partner and her 2 year old son, Jack.
